Everyone at the salon knew something was going on except his wife back in Vietnam
I've worked at this salon for almost three years.

Long enough to know who gets along with who.

Long enough to know which rumors are fake.

And long enough to recognize when something isn't just a rumor anymore.

One of my coworkers, Lien, is 34.

She's friendly, funny, and customers love her.

Our salon owner is almost 60.

He tells everyone he's separated from his wife, but the truth is his 27-year-old wife still lives in Vietnam waiting for her immigration paperwork.

At least that's what we've always been told.

At first, I didn't think much of how close Lien and the boss were.

She stayed late to help him close.

He always bought her lunch.

If she wanted a day off, somehow she always got it.

Then customers started asking if they were husband and wife.

We laughed it off.

But inside the salon, nobody was laughing anymore.

One afternoon I forgot my phone at my station after we closed.

When I came back, almost everyone had left.

The lights in the front were already off.

As I walked toward my table, I heard laughter coming from the owner's office.

The door wasn't completely closed.

I wasn't trying to spy.

But I recognized both voices immediately.

I quietly turned around and walked back outside.

The next morning, nothing seemed different.

They acted completely normal.

Like nothing had happened.

Over the next few months, people noticed more little things.

Lien suddenly drove a newer SUV.

The boss started taking random weekdays off.

Whenever Lien requested the same day off, it was almost always approved.

Nobody could prove anything.

But nobody believed it was all just coincidence anymore.

What really bothered me wasn't even their relationship.

They're both adults.

It's what kept running through my mind every time I thought about his wife.

A young woman thousands of miles away...

Waiting to start a new life with the man she married.

Does she even know what's happening here?

Or is she counting down the days until she can finally join him?

Sometimes I wonder if Lien truly loves him.

Maybe she does.

Maybe she believes he'll eventually leave his wife.

Or maybe she's hoping to become the next Mrs. Owner.

The truth is...

None of us knows.

We only see pieces of the story.

But every time I watch them leave together after work, I can't help thinking about the woman in Vietnam who probably has no idea that an entire salon has been whispering about her husband for months.

If you worked with people in this situation...

Would you stay out of it?

Or would you tell someone before another life gets turned upside down?
